The two qualifying slots for Gorup C were still up for grabs, and the winners on Matchday 6 were assured a trip to the Final Round of 16.

Real Madird were very comfortable on the pitch, and it wasn’t long until the goals started pouring in. On the 13th minute, Real Madrid’s Julio Baptista opened up the scoring. 2 minutes after, Real Madrid captain Raul Gonzalez added another goal. And just half-time on the 36th minute, Real Madrid’s Robinho added a 3rd to give a 3-0 scoreline leading into the first half break.

Instead, German Bundesliga club Werder Bremen improves their standing, and gives them a lifeline to fight for the 2 qualification slots from Group C of the Champions League.

Werder Bremen opened the scoring in the 5th minute with Markus Rosenberg turning a scrappy attempt into a goal after the Real Madrid defense was caught napping. On the 14th minute, Real Madrid found an equaliser with Robinho dribbling down the left side and given enough space to curl in a wonderful strike to find the far corner and beat Werder Bremen keeper Christian Vander.

Werder Bremen retook the lead 5 minutes before the first-half break when Werder striker Boubacar Sanogo made a fine volley-finish from a wonderful pass by team mate Marcus Rosenberg. On the 58th minute, Werder Bremen stretched their lead 3-1 when Aaron Hunt steered clear of Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas and drove in the goal.

Real Madrid Draw With Lazio in UEFA Champions League Group Stage Match

Ruud van Nistelrooy Scores 2 goals against LazioThe Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy, was filled to the rafters with Lazio sky blue colors, and looked to really intimidate Spanish La Liga Champions Real Madrid, who were the visitors against Lazio for a group stage match of the 2007-08 UEFA Champions League tournament. The tens of thousands of Lazio fans really made an intimidating sight for the visiting Real Madrid squad, but the Spanish La Liga Champions weren’t at all fazed. In fact, it was Real Madrid who came out blazing, and scoring a quick goal in the 8th minute.

Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder curled in a free-kick which evaded the Lazio wall and went straight to Ruud van Nistelrooy, who redirected it into the open space and into the back of the Lazio net to have Real Madrid get an early 1-0 advantage.
