Soccer Betting Tips: Chelsea vs Tottenham in League Cup Final
Chelsea will defend their League Cup title as they host Tottenham on Sunday. Manager Avram Grant is trying to win his first title since taking over as manager in September. Chelsea is in the running to win four titles, the League Cup, the FA Cup, the Champions League and the Premier League. Sunday’s game against Tottenham is an excellent chance for Chelsea to win a title. They have owned Tottenham in the past, losing only two matches in the last 18 years. Grant rested captain John Terry in the Soccer Betting Champions League on Tuesday in the draw against Olympiakos and Frank Lampard played just a few minutes. “It will be a very difficult game, considering Tottenham are in good form and they are very excited to be in a final against Chelsea,” Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard said. “We have to make sure we’re on guard, as they have a lot of threats in their team going forward.”
Chelsea is the favorite in the game at SBG Global. They are about a 2-1 favorite on the money line with a total of 2.5 under. Tottenham is trying to win their first trophy in over 10 years. History will not be on their side against Chelsea in the final. “We know Chelsea are a good team and probably go into the final as favorites because they are higher up in the league table than us,” Tottenham manager Juande Ramos said. “But anything can happen in football, and we need to play with the maximum level of concentration.” Tottenham was able to get a 1-1 draw on Thursday in UEFA Cup action against Slavia Prague to advance to the round of 16 in that tournament. Goalkeeper Paul Robinson played well and is expected to start on Sunday against Chelsea. “He did a great job, he did everything he had to do,” Ramos said. “We want him to produce the best performance possible and give the best of himself. He was out for a while but his performance was magnificent.”
It is expected that Tottenham will go with all of their top players as they try to win on Sunday. “The truth is if we play like we did against Slavia, then we are not going to win very often,” Ramos said. “But you have to remember this is the same team that beat Arsenal three weeks ago, so we do have possibilities of winning.” Tottenham could be without captain Ledley King who has a knee injury. It is also possible that Michael Dawson will not play due to a hamstring injury.
“It would be absolutely magnificent to win a cup, particularly because it would bring tremendous happiness to the club – who need a trophy,” Ramos said.
