I am certain that everyone in the world who has every played football knows just what it means to have that spirit of competition. It’s that same spirit that has you sliding to the ground to chase after a ball, jumping higher than most to make a header and kicking your hardest just to score a goal. And for those who are talented into be professionals at football, it must be such a blessing to be well paid in doing something you are passionate about. To the many fans and critics of football, we understand that passion and that’s why we sing in the stands, and even sometimes riot for our cause. After all, football is the world’s game.
In any case, footyfootball.com would like to extend its sincerest condelences to the family and friends of Sevilla FC midfielder and Spain national team’s Antonio Puerta. Puerta had suffered a cardiac arrest in the middle of the match against Getafe CF last 25th of August. There was a mixed atmosphere at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa. There was joy on Genoa’s return to the Italia Serie A after a 12-season absence. But then, there was also tension and sadness. Back in 1995, Genoa fan Vincent Spagnolo died in clashes outside the stadium, and was the reason for threats against Milan suppoters, so in the interests of safety all visiting supporters were banned. That was the last time the two teams met in Serie A 12 years ago.[read more]

Udinese FC draws against Inter Milan.
In the 2006-07 Italian Serie A season, Inter Milan was going on a record-breaking romp, posting 17 consecutive wins, the most consecutive wins in the Big 5 Leagues (Italian, Spanish, English, German & French). However, it was middle-ranked Udinese FC who stopped the Inter Milan juggernaut, posting a 1-1 draw and ending the consecutive win streak of Inter Milan.
At the beginning of the 2007-08 Italian Serie A season over the weekend, Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan opened their season with a clash against Udinese in their home pitch at the San Siro in Milan, Italy…[read more]

The Santiago Bernabeu was full to the rafters with an expected capacity attendance of 80,000 as Los Merengues supporters went all out to support El Campeon de La Liga in its first match of the 2007-08 Spanish La Liga season.
The Spanish champions Real Madrid played host to Atletico Madrid, and the festive atmosphere was very evident even before the match began. Bayern Munich recently played hosts to Hannover 96 in front of 69,000 fans at the Allianz Arena, and came up with a 3-0 win that gives them dominating position atop of the German Bundesliga with a perefect 9 points in their first three matches.
Bayern’s chief striker Luca Toni opened up the scoring for the Bavarians on the 28th minute, giving him his 3rd goal in three games. However, Toni injured his thigh in the act of scoring and wasn’t able to continue play. This is probably the biggest dent to the Bayern Munich squad despite coming out with their 3rd win, and the 250th win of Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld in the Bundesliga.
Hannover ‘96 made things worse for them when Altin Lala was sent off just before the half with a second booking, leaving the visitors short-handed with 10 men. When the 2nd half of play resumed, Bayern laid seige to the net of Hannover’s keeper Robert Enke…[read more]

Sven-Goran Eriksson’s Manchester City side suffered its first defeat since they started the 2007-08 Premier League with three straight wins and no goals given up. However, City’s keeper Kasper Schmeichel had to have his record blemished with a late goal be Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas, and that made it enough for The Gunners to walk away with the full 3 points.
The City defense was very imposing with the center-back duo of Micah Richards and Richard Dunne making it extremely difficult for the Arsenal offense. However, a mistake by Richards resulted in a penalty kick. Luckily, Schmeichel was up to the task and came up with a brilliant save against Arsenal sriker Robin van Persie.
City applied pressure on the Arsenal defense, and almost found their opportunity through the efforts of striker Emile Mpenza, who got his first start over the injured Valeri Bolinov. Mpenza went one-on-one with Arsenal keeper Manuel Alumnia, but was stopped by the charging keeper who took out Mpenza’s angle. City was hoping for a penalty when midfielder Michael Johnson was taken down by Kolo Toure in the box. Erikkson and the Manchester City bench stood up in protest, but referee Chris Foy waved play on…[read more]

Portsmouth were very determined to come out with the 3-points when they visited Stamford Bridge, but the home pitch advantage of Chelsea FC may have just given them the slight edge to walk away with a 1-0 win. It may not look impressive on paper, but the one-goal advantage was enough to give Chelsea FC the 3 points to top the English Premier League at 10 points, one ahead of Manchester City who landed their first loss of the season to the Arsenal gunners, also with a 1-0 result…[read more]

Referee Rob Styles is indefinitely suspended from officiating Premiership matches because of “mistakes” in Liverpool-Chelsea clash.
At the beginning of the match, Liverpool FC’s manager Rafa Benitez was on a happy mood. Benitez’s side hosted visitors Chelsea FC for their 3rd match-day, and took an early lead in the 16th minute when striker Fernando Torres took a pass from Steven Gerrard, and booted in his first official Premiership goal for Liverpool on their home pitch at Anfield. 40,000+ Liverpool fans erupted!…[read more]

The San Siro stadium in Milan was buzzing with excitement as the capacity crowd of 85,000 were onhand to cheer Italian Serie A League Champions Inter Milan to its third consecutive Italian Super Cup. However, visitors AS Roma FC, Italian Cup Champions, had other things in mind.
Right from the kick-off, AS Roma dominated against Inter Milan with newly acquired French midfielder Ludovic Giuly testing the Milan defense on several occassions, getting close to goal around three times in the first thirty minutes. Inter’s first chance at goal came towards the end of the first half when Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s shot flashed just wide of the Roma goal.
In the second half, Inter Milan picked up the pace with Honduran striker David Suazo leading the charge and creating chances for the home side with help from Burdisso, Chivu and Ibrahimovic. Inter’s best chance for a goal fell to second-half sub Luis Figo. The Portuguese ace was clear through to goal on a sublime pass from Ibrahimovic, but Doni made a last-stand intervention to win the ball from Figo…[read more]

The intimidating Santiago Bernabeu, home pitch of Spanish La Liga Champions Real Madrid, was the stage for the 2nd leg of the Spanish Super Cup between Real Madrid and Sevilla FC.
Sevilla came into this match with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg, and Real Madrid needed to put in 2 unanswered goals if they were to win The Spanish Super Cup. The supporters of Real Madrid came in full force, and cheered their team on.
In fact, it was Madrid who led the attack early on in the first half with chances from Raul who dribbled past two defenders, but his attempt managed only to graze the post. Pepe - debuting for Madrid - had a powerful shot from outside the box which missed the target by inches. Madrid striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy also had one of the best chances for Los Merengues, but his shot from outside the box sailed past the post…[read more]
